You wouldn’t know it given my obsession for frilly dresses, but I’m a tomboy at heart. When I’m not propping up the bar of the Dog and Duck with a pint of Timothy Taylor, I’ll be watching the darts or rucking and mauling on a rugby field… ok, maybe not the last one.
Another of my ‘blokey’ passions is Formula 1. I’ve been following it since the days of Senna and Prost – while many people, Fiance About Tech included, find the drone of speeding cars lulls them to sleep, I can’t get enough. So imagine my delight when Sky announced that they were dedicating a whole channel to F1. I’ve been glued to the expert analysis of Martin Brundle and co – and beautiful, beautiful Jenson Button – all season. It surely couldn’t get any better than this…
…but look! Now Sky have launched these limited edition Sky+HD boxes, just in time for the British Grand Prix on July 8th. They’ve been designed by the legendary driver that is Sir Stirling Moss, plus F1 fanatics Jodie Kidd and Vic Reeves. Aren’t they awesome? They’re certainly much funkier than the dull box currently squirrelled away in my media unit.
All three have chosen to focus on classic racing cars, but my favourite has to be Sir Stirling’s, who wanted to feature his luck number seven and shades of racing green. I love this quote from him: “My mother was born on 7th July and I would always get it as my racing number if I could. I had a fair few wins driving cars with that number and, at one time when I was racing car number 43, I included a plus sign between the two numbers so they would add up to 7!” Aw, bless.
Each box within the collection is priced at £99 for existing Sky customers upgrading to HD, and £149 for existing Sky+HD customers or new customers joining with the HD package. Any additional boxes are £249. The boxes have 1TB of space, which is room for up to 240 recorded hours of HD or 740 hours of standard definition programmes. You’ll get access to up to 60 HD channels and hundreds of hours of free on-demand movies, entertainment, documentaries and drama ‘box sets’.
Fancy giving your Sky box some va va voom? Then register your interest here. Oh and I’d love to know which is your favourite, so do tell me via the comments box. Go on, you know you want to!Tweet
