Pop-up restaurants are popping up everywhere at the moment. Well they would be wouldn’t they? But Electrolux have taken things to a higher level – quite literally – by plonking one on top of the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Open until the 30th September, The Cube seats just 18 guests for two sittings a day (one for lunch and one for dinner), with the likes of Sat Bains and Tom Kitchin cooking and serving seasonal dishes from the open-plan kitchen – guests can even help with the plating up.
It’s all to ‘celebrate 90 years of professional expertise’. Because it may surprise you to know (well, it did me) that 50% of the Michelin starred chefs in Europe use Electrolux appliances in their professional kitchens.
Sittings cost from £175 per person, with a Champagne reception, a minimum of six courses and wine – not exactly credit-crunch friendly, then. But if you’re a real foodie with a bit of spare cash, you won’t be disappointed, as I discovered when I was lucky enough to drop in for a lunch cooked by Daniel Clifford.
Oh believe me, it’s not just the views that are to die for.
